Angry Auto-Targeting, Thoughts...

I personally don't like it. If I want to target something I'll click, tab, c space. Currently you can waste skills if a current target is selected and then dies before you cast/use. If anything give us an option to toggle it in the options menu, especially for future interface changes. Don't want it, don't like it. On another note, how about that close current target icon...
What do you think about it?

I liked how it was before but I can understand why some people do like it. Hopefully what will happen is that they make it a toggle option.

Btw, why do people use the angry face smiley when making a thread? whenever I see that, I just set myself to read a rage thread . ..

It hasn't come into play for me yet, but I can see how it can really mess things up in a critical area. In the late stages of the game, you NEED to selectively call your targets, especially with heroes/hench. If you end up attacking the wrong monster with the wrong skill, it could mean you're in deep trouble. So yeah I'd agree with you, I'd like to see an option to disable it.

it keeps making me think my target has a not-quite-so-deep wound....

both things should be toggled.

I like the new targeting feature. It seems to target the closest enemy anyway, but I wouldn't mind if there was an option to turn off auto-targeting.

Took me one match to get used to it. Doesn't bother me anymore.

I agree with Miral that they should be toggled, but I'm loving the new target system. I've already gotten used to it to the point that I don't need "c+space" anymore. Just looking at your target, getting them within aggro range and hitting space is enough. Freakin great. Of course, tabbing and straight up clicking your target still works, so you can correctly find and target what you need to. It's just all-around grand.

Score one more for the Anet crew!

How does it look like a deep wound? Get your eyes checked.

funny thing... I already suggested this in Sardelac (the suggestion forum). I even titled the tread "Toggle for targeting refinement", so it should have been easy to find in a search.

I'll have to get used to it, it's strange for my that your fighting one character and using a attack combo and then you using your last skill on a different foe.

that cancle target button makes it look ugly IMO

I'd get rid of it. Last night in gvg I cast Shame on a monk under pressure. The monk died just before the end of the cast and the spell hit a warrior instead. Cue predictable "bad mesmer" flaming on local chat from the other team.

yeah - i hate the deep-wound-wanna-be!
its totally annoying!

on the subject of auto-aiming - i played for a few hours yesterday and didn't even notice it - so truth be told i have no idea what it feels like. tried to trigger it a few times (after hearing about it) but i have no idea how!

so currently
1. the auto aiming: don't even know its there
2. the cancel selection button - dump dump dump!

You can actually keep playing the way you used to - all the old targeting is still there. Try this, walk near some enemies and keep an eye on your radar. Watch as you get closer and get them near or in aggro range and scroll around to look at all the nearby enemies. Without targeting, an enemy will light up and change depending on what you're looking at. All you have to do now is hit a skill that targets a foe, or spacebar, and you will auto-lock and begin the attack/skill. It does this automatically if the target you had previously dies, too, since it is no longer among selectable targets.

Also, it works on NPCs and loot! Seriously, try it out, get near a pile of gold or dropped item and center it in your view - it will automatically highlight and you can hit spacebar to snatch it up. Really cool, IMO.

EDIT: BTW, agree about the cancel button. Pretty darn pointless and just extra clutter for the GUI. Win some lose some, I guess.

Definitely need a toggle for auto-target. Sounds convenient for PvE and disastrous for PvP. And what purpose does the Cancel Selection button serve? Under any circumstances? I don't see the point.

I get tricked by the "small" deep wound everytime. At pvp sometimes you just take a quick look at the bar and can sometimes get confused by that white thingy.

i think its gay, i was gvging and during a spike i usally go ice spikes then freezing gust, during this spike ice spikes was enough but i his freezing gust just incase it wasnt and my current target was dead so i just wated 10 snaring a target that i didnt need to.

Also i got a big issue with the cancle button, it looks like the target has a deep wound on him, this is a BIG confusing in high end gvg

What does it actually do...

I haven't even noticed it doing anything yet, does it only apply to spellcasting? Because my guild leader seems to hate it too on his ele.
